HOT GOSSIP…News and views from the muscle kingdom

Hi there, and welcome to a brand new feature in your ever expanding Species newsletter! The purpose of this section is to inform, entertain and perhaps take your mind off that tub of ‘Ben & Jerry’s’ in the freezer if you are dieting. So let’s roll….

Of course you would have to have been living in a café in the Amazon Rain Forest to escape the news that Alex Rodriguez has been exposed as a steroid user (shock, horror!)

It seems that the media are on a baseball witch-hunt at the moment, trying to expose anyone and everyone who has used anabolics. Of course, the bigger the name the better and A-Rod is certainly getting maximum coverage in the press at the moment. Last time I checked the NY ‘Daily News’ there were 8-10 pages devoted to the A-Rod scandal, talk about overkill! I wonder what will happen when the powers that be decide to turn their heads in the direction of the entertainment industry? Of course that may never happen, after all they have to protect their little puppets, right?!

Okay, back to the real world…I hope you have all checked out the latest, greatest muscle site on the web, RX Muscle! Trust me, this is going to become HUGE (with none other than Dave Palumbo behind it success is guaranteed). So make sure you register- once you’ve read this newsletter of course! – by going to www.Rxmuscle.com Be warned though, this site is highly addictive and you may need to make some changes to your social calendar to accommodate it!…
And so the keto diet bashing continues with certain muscle mags printing news that keto diets are linked to sudden death, cause negative health effects, depress growth hormone and lead to rapid weight gain on reintroduction of carbs. If you believe these reports you might come away thinking that, second to subscribing to a home delivery diet from McDonalds, keto diets are the worst thing you could do as far as your health is concerned. Well of course keto diets are bad for you! I mean, look at Dave and all the athletes he works with…look like they are about to keel over and die at your feet, right? Seriously though, this whole keto scare is beyond crazy. Try following Dave’s diet and the only side effects you are likely to suffer from are increases in energy and well-being. Now isn’t that a terrible thing…lol!..

Finally, to wrap things up this month, next time you are complaining about working too hard and not having time to train, take a look at the schedule Species athlete Dena Westerfield is currently following, as she cruises towards the Arnold Classic in March…

“I wake at 4.30am and get on the treadmill for 1 hour. I then do 4 rounds of mandatory poses, which takes another 20minutes. Next I eat, take care of some office things, clean, and do laundry. About 10am I head off to the gym and do a second round of cardio (30mins on the hand bike or stepper) work on posing routine for 45mins to an hour and then head home for a nap. I usually nap from around 12.30 –2pm. I get to the gym by 2.30, train for 45mins to 1 hour and then hopefully do another 30mins of cardio. Then I see patients (Dena runs her own health center) from 4-9pm. If I wasn’t able to get the 3rd round of cardio in earlier I do 30mins at home after work.”
So get out of that chair, turn off the TV and get to the gym…you have no excuse!
